This consultation has now closed and Noosa Plan 2020 was adopted by Council in July 2020.

Council is inviting the community to provide feedback on The Discussion Paper, the first stage of preparing a New Noosa Plan. See The Discussion Paper in the document library to the right of your screen.

Council will develop a new Noosa Plan over the next 3 years. The Plan will replace the existing Noosa Plan 2006. The New Noosa Plan will guide and shape the future of Noosa and ensure our community's values continue to underpin the economy and our lifestyle.

The Discussion Paper outlines possible ideas on how The New Noosa Plan can address the future needs of our community.

Council encourages residents and business operators to consider what they cherish about Noosa Shire and to imagine how they would like to see Noosa develop over the next decade, and beyond. Your input will be greatly appreciated and will be considered in the drafting of a New Noosa Plan.

Council's extra, non-compulsory step of consulting with the community before preparing a draft of its new planning scheme, has paid dividends with over 500 responses provided by the community to the new Noosa Plan discussion paper (See summary in the Document Library to the right of the this screen).

Council’s Strategic Planning team will soon commence drafting the new Noosa Plan, hoping to complete that process by the end of the year. They will be speaking with a range of stakeholders as they progress, including business, professional and environment representatives.

The initial draft will then go to the State Government for its first interest check. Once returned from the State, the draft plan will be made available for a second round of community consultation. Once that process is completed, the final draft should be gazetted by the State in 2019."

The new planning scheme will provide the blueprint for development of Noosa Shire over the next decade.

Council thanks those who have participated so far, and look forward to further engagement with the community as the development of the new planning scheme rolls out.
