Consultation has concluded

This consultation has now closed and the final delivery of the project is underway. Thank you for all your input which has helped shape this project for the community.

UPDATE/OUTCOME: Council adopted Local Law No.7 (Waste Management) 2018 on March 15, 2018. The local law is available for viewing on Council's website.

Council is proposing to introduce a new Local Law 7 (Waste Management) 2017 to take over from the state government waste management legislation. Waste management is currently covered by state government legislation (the Waste Reduction and Recycling Regulation 2011 and the Environmental Protection Regulation 2008) which are due to expire on 1 July 2018.

Written submissions by any person in support of, or objecting to, the proposed local law are invited for a 21 day period commencing on Friday 12 January 2018 and ending on Friday 2 February 2018 (the “consultation period”).

During the consultation period Council will make available for inspection here ( see Document Library to the right of this screen) and at Council’s public office at 9 Pelican Street, Tewantin QLD 4565 copies of —

  • the proposed local law; and
  • a public interest test plan about the possible anti-competitive provisions included in the proposed local law.

Submissions must be received on or before Friday 2 February 2018 stating —

  • the grounds of the submission; and
  • the facts and circumstances relied on in support of the grounds.
