What is a DMP?

A DMP is a Destination Management Plan. It is a plan that guides, via actions, the way a place manages tourism, in balance with the needs of the local community, the environment, the economy and visitors.

    Why do we need one?

Tourism is part of the fabric of Noosa’s identity and economy—via surveys and conversations, the community has told us that tourism needs to be managed more carefully to protect what makes Noosa special.

    A DMP will help us:

    • Protect the things that matter to the Noosa community.
    • Ensure tourism benefits locals.
    • Keep Noosa’s character and lifestyle intact.
    • Plan for the future.

    How can I get involved?

You can get involved by learning more about the draft DMP and what it means for Noosa by:

    • Going to Noosa Council’s Your Say page https://yoursay.noosa.qld.gov.au/, reading the draft DMP and completing the short survey.
    • Attending one of the community information sessions, also listed on the Your Say page, then completing the survey.

How will my feedback be considered?

All feedback will be considered. The survey is designed to demonstrate if we heard the community’s concerns in the first round of engagement and if we captured the sentiment and desired actions.

    What's the next step?

When this round of engagement finishes on September 14, Council will review the feedback, amend the draft DMP and present it to the Council for further consideration and then endorsement. It is expected that a final DMP will be endorsed by late November.
