What is Noosa’s Draft Destination Management Plan?
As Noosa’s popularity continues to grow, so do the pressures on our environment, infrastructure, and community wellbeing. To ensure tourism remains a positive force for our region, Noosa Council is developing a community-led Destination Management Plan (DMP). This long-term strategy puts community values and environmental care at the heart of the visitor economy.

About the Draft Destination Management Plan for Noosa Shire
This short video tells the story of why a Destination Management Plan (DMP) is important for the Noosa Shire, for residents, visitors, businesses and to protect the environment and lifestyle we all know and love.
Draft Destination Management Plan for Noosa Shire has finished this stage
The first phase of engagement was open from 15 September to 29 October 2023.
Analysis of feedback
Draft Destination Management Plan for Noosa Shire has finished this stage
From November 2023 - May 2024, Council reviewed all community input with a view to developing a draft Destination Management Plan.
Phase 2 of community engagement on a draft Destination Management Plan
Draft Destination Management Plan for Noosa Shire is currently at this stage
Council decided in the December 2024 Ordinary meeting that further engagement with the community is required to draft and finalise a Destination Management Plan. At the Special Meeting on Monday 4 August, Council endorsed a second phase of community engagement on a draft DMP from 6 August to 14 September. 2025.
Analysis of feedback and refinement of draft DMP

From September to November 2025, Council will analyse and refine the draft DMP, and if appropriate, schedule a final DMP for Council consideration by the end of 2025.
Consideration of a final DMP by Council for adoption

Council will consider a revised DMP based on community feedback in Phase 2 engagement with a view to adopting a DMP for Noosa. Council will then update project followers and the broader community about the next steps towards implementation.
