Noosa Council 2022-23 Budget Engagement
Each year, Council develops an annual budget that outlines how we will fund the delivery of projects, programs, new initiatives and more than 100 different services to our community.
The ongoing impacts of COVID and the 2022 February floods have placed added pressure on what can be delivered over the next 12 months. Like you, increases in fuel, insurance and goods and services have also contributed to our costs.
This year’s proposed capital and operating budget of $159 million reflects community and council aspirations to protect our environment, rebuild our shire and create a more liveable and inclusive community.
We have recently completed a detailed Liveability Survey, where over 1600 people shared what they care about in their neighbourhood and rated their experience in their neighbourhood.
This feedback provided valuable data and is helping shape the 2022-23 budget.
With inflation surging to 5.1%, the highest level since 2001. Council has proposed to keep rate rises in line with CPI for the majority of ratepayers who continue to remain on the minimum general rate.
Increased land valuations have also contributed to the need for a well-considered and measured approach in the way rates and levies are charged so it remains affordable to the majority of ratepayers.
Council now seeks community feedback on the proposed draft budget priorities to inform final budget decisions for the adoption of the 2022/23 budget on 28 June 2022.
