Carbon Reduction & Energy Efficiency Plan

Noosa Council approved the development of a Carbon Reduction & Energy Efficiency Plan to drive cultural change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The plan will:

  • Outline Council’s direction in reducing greenhouse gas emissions for the next 5 years;
  • Increase efficiency in natural resource use for households, businesses and in Council’s operations including: short term (annual) actions, particularly in the four focus areas of: buildings and home energy usage; renewable energy supply; transport and waste management;
  • Build community awareness of increasing energy costs, more efficient energy use, and developing habits and initiatives to reduce energy use at home and in buildings (e.g. installing solar panels; changing lighting to LED).

    This project was not pursued and was replaced by the Zero Emissions Noosa Strategy under the newly elected Council in early 2016

    Council wishes to thank the community for their input of over 215 comments. These comments will assist Council in developing a draft Carbon Reduction & Energy Efficiency Plan. The community will have an opportunity to comment on the Plan once it has been drafted.
