Be prepared for bushfire and storm season

The fires currently impacting parts of Queensland including Black Mountain are a reminder of the vital role we all play when faced with a disaster situation.

Recent fire planning events outlined the importance of being prepared and knowing where to get up-to-date information. All Noosa residents are encouraged to download a copy of Council’s Emergency Action Guide from disaster.noosa.qld.gov.au. The Disaster Dashboard also provides information about road closures, power outages, and weather conditions.

From 1 November 2023, you will also notice changes to how warnings about natural disasters are issued, with the introduction a new Australian Warning System (AWS). The AWS provides a nationally consistent approach to alert icons used to let you know about an emergency. This system only changes the way alerts look, not the way information is circulated in the community.
