This consultation has now closed and the project has been completed. Thank you for your input which has helped shape this project for the community.

Noosa Council has amended The Noosa Plan, being the planning scheme for the Shire of Noosa with the amended version taking effect on 28 October 2016.

These amendments were designed to :


  • Correct and update the scheme
  • Reduce red tape for small businesses, particularly rural ones
  • Improve housing choice
  • Facilitate a wider choice of visitor experiences, particularly in the hinterland
  • Protect our countryside, bushland and drinking water catchments
  • Protect people and property from natural hazards including flooding now and in the future
  • Protect residential amenity

    Further changes have been made to the flood hazard mapping for the Cooroibah area in response to comments from the community. The mapping was revised using a finer level of modelling detail and then forwarded to the state government for approval with the rest of the amendments. Letters are being sent to property owners advising them of the changing and thanking them for their feedback.

    The proposed planning scheme amendments were modified as a result of submissions and submitters have been informed of Council's decisions. The amendments have been refered back to the State government awaiting final approval by the Minister.

    Council wishes to thank the community for their input of over 60 submissions on the draft proposed amendments to The Noosa Plan. Council officers will review all submissions, and where relevant, seek further technical advice.All submissions and recommendations will be reported to Council for consideration within the next few months. Once final changes have been made, the document will be referred to the Planning Minister for approval before it can be adopted. This is anticipated to be with the first quarter of 2016.
