In Phase 2 of the project, we are looking forward to developing a draft place plan for Pomona, reflecting what the community said is most important to them.

Follow the project to be notified when we kick off Phase 2 in 2024.

Noosa Council is working with the Pomona community to develop a place plan for the town. This is a pilot project for Council to test a new approach to planning, engaging, and improving the liveability of its diverse villages and towns.

To ensure that Pomona remains a unique and thriving community into the future, the Pomona Place Plan will:

  • identify the characteristics and values that make Pomona special
  • establish a shared vision
  • outline actions for delivery by Council, community and other stakeholders over the next 10 years.

We will work closely with residents, businesses, and other stakeholders to help us understand the town’s unique assets and attributes that create a sense of place, support social connections, and contribute to the local lifestyle.

This pilot project will test new organisational governance structures and processes within Council and the community to develop learnings that will be applied to towns and villages across the shire through the Noosa Place Program. You can find out more about the Placemaking Program here.

How to Get Involved!

Passionate about Pomona? Here’s how you can have your say on the Pomona Place Plan.

We want to understand what you think makes Pomona special, what you love about the place, and what you would like to change or improve.

From 16 August to 8 October, we have a fun-filled and diverse program of activities and events for you to contribute your thoughts and ideas.

Here’s how you can be involved in shaping Pomona’s future:

Complete one of the following engagement activities on this page and go in the draw for one of five $100 Mastercard Gift Cards!:

  • Complete the survey online (or pick up a hard copy from the Pomona & District Community House)
  • Add your ideas for Pomona on the Ideas Board below or send your submission to placemaking@noosa.qld.gov.au
  • Write a Love Letter to Pomona. Download the project stationery here (or pick one up from the Pomona & District Community House) and email your submissions to placemaking@noosa.qld.gov.au.

Talk to the Project Team about your vision for Pomona:

  • Join us at the Friday Social from 3-5pm on 25 August on the lawn outside the Pomona and District Community House for a sausage sizzle, live music and children’s activities.
  • Come to a pop-up event:
    • Friday 25 August, 8am to 10.30am, outside the IGA.
    • Saturday 26 August, 8am to 10.30am, at the Pomona Markets.
    • Friday 8 September, 9am - 11:30am at the Noosa Show.
    • Friday 22 September, 2pm to 4pm, outside the IGA.
    • Saturday 23 September, 8am to 10.30am, at the Pomona Markets.
