FAQs
Which trees does the policy apply to?
This Policy applies to all trees under care and control of Council on public land within the Noosa Shire. It does not apply to trees on private land, or land managed by other authorities such as Queensland Parks & Wildlife Service or the Department of Transport and Main Roads.
What are the key changes in the policy?
The key changes in the revised policy that relate to the community are regarding how Council deals with requests for tree pruning and removal. This section of the policy has been strengthened to allow for greater coverage of the type of requests and situations relating to trees that Council receives, and it also allows for better consistency in how Council staff address these requests.
Why have these changes been made?
The revised policy aims to better inform the community about the process for decision-making, provide greater policy detail and consistency in decision-making, and to be sustainable and align with Noosa design principles.
When Council removes a tree, is a tree planted to replace it?
Where appropriate, Council will seek to replace trees that are removed with either more appropriate trees or else equivalent trees in a more appropriate location.
Who is responsible for maintaining trees on public land?
Council is responsible for maintaining trees on all land within its care and control.
