Arts, Heritage & Cultural Plan

Council is currently developing an Arts, Culture and Heritage Plan (Cultural Plan) to audit the current state of the arts, cultural and heritage sectors within the Shire. The Plan will provide a blueprint to assist audience development, community arts, cultural entrepreneurship, heritage preservation, and professional artistic development.

Noosa’s creative coastal and hinterland communities are major attractions for both locals and our visitors, offering creative experiences from visiting galleries and museums through to markets and events.

Noosa Council helps build this creativity and innovation by supporting wonderful venues and offering financial assistance to local artists and community groups, providing for diverse and unique creative experiences here in Noosa.

The Plan will:

· review population and demographic forecasts;

· consider current and future trends and participation in the arts, culture and heritage sectors;

· review government (state and federal) strategic directions and resourcing policies;

· audit existing community arts, creative industries, cultural and heritage activities (including events and tourism) and infrastructure in the Shire;

· explore the synergies and opportunities for local cultural development and conflicting demands for local resources;

· identify gaps, duplications or opportunities for partnerships in delivery of arts, culture and heritage services and facilities; and

· provide a road map for the future development of the arts, culture and heritage in the Shire.
