Noosa Council is currently developing an Infrastructure Master Plan for the much-loved Noosaville Foreshore. See the map on the right of this page to view a map of the foreshore area.

This beautiful recreation area, nestled along the Noosa River, is a cherished space for locals, tourists, and the Kabi Kabi Peoples' who maintain deep cultural connections with the Noosa River. It's a hub for diverse activities like walking, cycling, swimming, rowing and yachting, fishing, picnics, shopping, and dining, with access to ferry stops and boat rentals.

Our existing infrastructure along the foreshore is aging and the facilities need upgrading and infrastructure planning will need to consider the community’s diverse needs and growth, cultural heritage, plus climate change impacts such as increased heatwaves, river flooding, sea level rise and storm tide inundation as identified in the Coastal Hazards Adaptation Plan and Climate Change Response Plan. This also includes some of the work undertaken by the National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility (NCCARF) using a range of climate change scenarios to consider how we could adapt to sea-level rise. You can read more about the climate change scenarios (avoid, accommodate, protect, retreat) here.

To tackle these challenges, we're developing an Infrastructure Master Plan, encompassing site analysis, concept design, infrastructure assessment, design options and cost estimates. Our existing Noosaville Foreshore Management Plan has also provided the basis to inform our future infrastructure planning for the precinct.

Your experience, local knowledge and expertise are essential for creating a comprehensive plan that addresses our community’s aspirations and needs, helping us to form the future direction of this important area.

How can I get involved?

  • From 23 October to 20 November, we’re inviting all Noosa Shire residents and visitors to have their say on their vision for the future infrastructure of Noosaville Foreshore by completing a brief survey.

  • Alternatively, feel welcome to send your feedback to mail@noosa.qld.gov.au (maximum 4 pages please or 5Mb file size please).

  • Talk to the Project Team about your ideas. Come to our pop-up event on Saturday, 28 October at the following times:

    • 9.30am - 11.30am at Pirate Park, adjacent to the playground.

    • 12.00pm - 2.00pm at Apex Park, alongside the Big Pelican.

    • 2.30pm - 4.30pm at the Parkland on the riverside of Thomas Street and Gympie Terrace roundabout.

Get involved in the conversation and have your say, Noosa!
