The Social Strategy aims to provide a framework to continue to improve community wellbeing and cohesiveness while addressing the social opportunities and challenges facing the shire over the coming years. It highlights our current strengths as a community and commits to supporting and building upon these while at the same time identifying priority social issues and challenges for action.

The Strategy articulates Council’s role in the cultural, community and social life of the shire. It in encourages greater collaboration between government and non-government organisations, services agencies, facility providers and individuals to avoid duplication, improve efficiency and enhance community cohesion.

Four strategic themes were identified in the draft Strategy. These themes were aspirational and identified our long term goals:

  • A cohesive and resilient community
  • An active and healthy community
  • An accessible, diverse and affordable community, and
  • A creative and informed community.

The final Social Strategy, with amendments to include community feedback and input ,was adopted by Council on December on December 17, 2015. The Social Strategy document is available in the document library to the right of this screen.
