Consultation has concluded. View the Economic Development Strategy here.
Noosa Council has prepared a Discussion Paper which outlines the direction of the Economic Development Strategy. We are keen to hear your thoughts on the direction being proposed prior to finalising the Economic Development Strategy.
A strong, balanced, diverse economy is important to Noosa.
We can all play a part in solving the challenges and take advantage of opportunities.
Discussions with local business groups and business leaders suggest key elements of the existing strategy continue to resonate with the community and will be retained and built upon:
The desire to strive towards a more diversified local economy looking beyond tourism and population driven economic growth and employment opportunities.
Achieving growth in ‘smart’ industry sectors that have high economic value and at the same time have low environmental impact, where there is a competitive advantage.
Being globally connected, with a particular focus on products and services that can be exported
The proposed strategy direction is centred on the concept of a ‘Smart Biosphere’, and underpinned by three guiding principles and three key areas to enable economic growth.
The Economic Development Strategy sits within Councils Policy Framework, which is led by Noosa Councils Corporate Plan and the Noosa Planning Scheme (see 3.2.6 strategic intent, and 3.3.5 strategic outcomes), both of which aim to achieve a diverse and resilient economy.
