Noosa Council
is now seeking expressions of interest from local organisations and businesses to
deliver its new Active Teens Program after 180 teenagers took part in a survey
to identify the types of activities they would like included in the program. Thank you Noosa teens!
Activities that
the young people would like to see as part of the program include:
stand-up-paddle, boxing, gym (weights and cardio), surfing, yoga, swimming,
kayaking, martial arts, self-defence, tennis and mountain biking.
With
Australia’s population heading towards a gold medal in obesity, and studies
showing that today’s teenagers lead a more sedentary lifestyle than previous
generations, the Active Teens program gives young people the chance to try some
fun activities which they then might continue for years to come,” Councils Director of Community, Alan (Fox) Rogers said.
Council is inviting interested sport
and active recreation businesses or not-for-profit groups to contact its
Community Development branch at commdev@noosa.qld.gov.au
or by phoning 5329 6500, no later than January 15.
