Waratah Reserve Draft Flying-fox Management Plan

Consultation has concluded

Noosa Council is in the process of developing a Flying-fox Roost Management Plan (FFMP) for Waratah Reserve, Tewantin. Council has engaged Ecosure, who are independent expert wildlife management consultants, to produce the FFMP.

The objectives of the FFMP are to manage potential future impacts associated with the flying-fox roost, while also protecting these ecologically important species, along with the environmental and community values of Waratah Reserve.

The Draft FFMP is now open for community feedback. Residents who are or have been impacted by the flying-fox roost within Waratah Reserve are invited to provide feedback to help inform the development of the Final FFMP.

To facilitate the feedback process, please review the Draft FFMP.

You can also view a hard copy of the draft FFMP by visiting our Customer Service Counter at the Noosa Council Tewantin Administration Building or the Noosaville Library, 7 Wallace Drive, Noosaville.

Community Meeting to provide feedback on the Draft FFMP

Council strongly encourages all residents to attend a community meeting where the Draft FFMP will be presented, with an opportunity for open discussion and specific individual feedback on the proposed management actions of the FFMP.

Details for the Community Meeting are:

Venue: The J Noosa, 60 Noosa Drive, Noosa Heads

Date: Wednesday 16th August

Time: 3:00pm to 4:45pm

RSVP: To attend the meeting, please register by emailing your full name and the total number of people attending to environment@noosa.qld.gov.au by Friday 11th August.

What If I Cannot attend the Community Meeting?

For those unable to attend the meeting, Council is providing equal opportunity for residents to provide feedback on the FFMP, through the completion of an online Survey. To provide your feedback please complete the following:

  1. Read the draft Plan
  2. Complete the online survey by 5:00 pm on Wednesday 30th August.

How will my feedback be incorporated into the FFMP?

All feedback received from impacted residents will be carefully evaluated and incorporated into the final Management Plan. The key areas of feedback and how it has been incorporated into the management recommendations will be clearly identified in the final management plan.

The Final Management Plan will be made available to residents in October 2023.
