Noosa Shire Local Economic Plan 2015
This consultation has now closed and the project has been completed. Thank you for your input which has helped shape this project for the community.
In consultation with the community, Council had progressed the development of the Noosa Shire Local Economic Plan. At the Ordinary Meeting on November 19, Council endorsed a draft for public exhibition and comment. Council invited the community to comment on the DRAFT Noosa Shire Local Economic Plan.
Council endorsed a new Local Economic Plan for Noosa at its Ordinary meeting in December 2015. The Plan has been developed through a process of consultation and engagement with the community, and guided by a Project Focus Group.
The aim of the Local Economic Plan is to:
* strengthen the resilience of the local economy by broadening its structure and achieving growth in industry sectors that have high economic value and low environmental impact, and
* strengthen the quality of life of residents by supporting social and environmental values of our community
The Plan:
* identifies 6 key themes and 7 priority sectors
* recognises the interdependence of the economy, the environment and the community
* outlines the type of economic development best suited to the Noosa Shire
* reflects the desires of the community
The AEC Group were engaged to prepare an economic profile for the Noosa Shire to develop an evidence base that would inform the development of the Local Economic Plan and form a baseline from which to monitor and measure the local economy over time.
Outcomes of the Plan will be achieved through projects undertaken in collaboration and partnership with business and industry, government agencies as well as business representative groups and organisations.
