Noosa Catchment Action Plan
The Noosa Catchment is one of Australia’s healthiest and most important river systems. It supports clean water, thriving wildlife, tourism, and the lifestyle that makes Noosa unique.
Noosa Council is working in partnership with the Council of Mayors SEQ Resilient Rivers Initiative to develop a long-term Catchment Action Plan for the Noosa River and surrounding waterways.
Community knowledge, local values and lived experience will help shape the plan alongside scientific and technical expertise.
The plan will help guide future waterway management, strengthen regional collaboration, and support the long-term health and resilience of the catchment in the face of growing environmental pressures. Caring for our catchment, together.

Phases
Targeted technical and stakeholder engagement
This phase involved targeted engagement with technical experts, stakeholders and environmental representatives to help build a shared understanding of the Noosa Catchment and inform development of the draft Catchment Action Plan (CAP).
Activities included technical workshops, ecological values discussions and collaborative investigations into catchment health, environmental pressures, values and opportunities. Insights from this work, alongside scientific data and research, are helping shape the draft CAP and supporting materials, including the Technical Report and interactive Noosa Catchment Story mapping platform.
The Technical Workshops were held in late 2025 and again on 30 April 2026 in Council Chambers, Pelican Street, Tewantin.
