Environment Strategy

This consultation has now closed and the final delivery of the project is underway. Thank you for all your input which has helped shape this project for the community.

The Environment Strategy is located in the document library on the right.

The purpose of this Environment Strategy is to provide a 10 year overarching framework for environment, sustainability and climate change initiatives.

The Environment Strategy recognises that Noosa will continually strive for a higher standard in the way we manage and live in our environment. It includes clear strategies, targets and intended outcomes that Council seeks to achieve, in partnership with the community and other management agencies.

The Environment Strategy will help prioritise investment and deliver an integrated and collaborative approach to achieving excellence in environmental management and sustainability.

The Strategy is structured under 4 themes:

  • Biodiversity
  • Waterways, Wetlands and Coasts
  • Sustainable Living
  • Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience.

An implementation plan will be developed with the final version of the Environment Strategy and will set out key implementation actions for the first few of years. It will also include a framework for monitoring and evaluating the success of the strategy.

Council wishes to thank the community for all the comments received during the consultation, as well as the various community groups for their involvement in the focus groups and workshops.
