Biosecurity Plan Review 2026

We’re updating the Noosa Biosecurity Plan to help protect our Shire, and we want your input.

The revised Biosecurity Plan will explain how invasive plants and animals will be managed across the Noosa Shire to protect our community, natural environment and local economy. You can find out more about Council's approach to biosecurity management on our website.

Invasive species in Noosa

These are some examples of invasive species and how they’re managed across the Shire.

Peregian Fox: Foxes prey on native wildlife, including ground-nesting animals.

North Shore Ferral Pig: Feral pigs damage habitats, spread weeds and impact waterways.

Kidney-leaf mud plantain (Heteranthera reniformis): A fast-spreading aquatic weed that can impact waterways.

Raise awareness about biosecurity risks and management

In this phase, Council will provide information about biosecurity risks and management and the revision of the Biosecurity Plan. Council will also consider for approval to engage with the community on a draft plan in June 2026.
