Consultation has concluded

This consultation has now closed and the project has been completed. Thank you for your input which has helped shape this project for the community.

Council worked on a new Corporate Plan in the last quarter of 2016. The draft Corporate Plan was presented to the community for consultation from early December 2016 to early January 2017. The consultation is now closed and the Plan was adopted by Council on January 19,2017. Please see the News Feed below for updates.

What is a Corporate Plan? This is the key document under the Local Government Act which helps guide a Council’s long term strategy and decision making. Its sets out Council’s vision and defines its purpose. The Corporate Plan also sets out the key themes that the Council will focus on in the coming years. View the draft Coporpate Plan in the document library to the right of your screen.

There are three key areas that the Council is sought feedback on but the Council welcomed any comments on the draft Corporate Plan:

Vision:

The Council has proposed a vision that reflects our distinctive Noosa approach – “Noosa Shire – different by nature”. What do you think of this vision? What does it mean to you?

Our Purpose as a Council:

The Council has endeavoured to define its purpose as an organisation (this is sometimes called a mission). It believes that its purpose is – “Working with our community to shape Noosa Shire’s future”. What do you think of this definition of Council’s purpose?

5 themes that identify key issues that Council will address over the coming years:

These are intended to be “high level” issues rather than a detailed assessment of every possible issue or action that the Council needs to take. The detail is then fleshed out each year as the Council adopts its annual operational plan and budget. Are the five themes in the draft Corporate Plan the right ones? Is there anything missing from the draft Corporate Plan or do you have any suggestions for alternative wording in relation to any of the issues?

Council is conscious that we are calling for comment near the Christmas period. Instead of providing two weeks to have your say, we have extended the comment period to one month to take account of the Christmas period.
