[COMPLETED] Public comment on DRAFT Coastal Hazards Adaptation Plan
The DRAFT CHAP is
released for public comment.
[COMPLETE] Community Workshops: developing adaptation responses
RSVP: by 12:00 pm Friday 30 November to grant.hinner@noosa.qld.gov.au
Location: Council Chambers, Level 3, Noosa Council, 9 Pelican Street, Tewantin
Start time: 10:00 am
End time: approx. 1:30 pm
Objectives of the workshop are to:
· To
explore what each of the coastal hazards actually means in the most affected
areas, down to the asset type (e.g. parks, stormwater, hotels) level. The goal is
to further participants' understanding of what the physical effects of each hazard mean for each asset type.
· Go
through "the ins and outs" (e.g. cost, effectiveness, environmental impacts, aesthetic
appeal, legal implications, etc.) of all the adaptation options. The goal is to enhance understanding that many options are not as clear-cut as they may appear at first glance.
· Provide
feedback to the project team on which options the Noosa community would support Council
pursuing, and which ones they are not so in favour of. This feedback is
critical to completing the project, as the next stage involves detailed
socio-economic analysis of options and as part of that there is a community
acceptability component that must be factored in.
